Formula & constants
One board foot = 144 cubic inches: (thickness × width × length in inches) ÷ 144. Hardwood thickness is quoted in quarters — 4/4 is 1 in nominal. A 1×6×8 ft board is 4 BF. Every default in the fields above is editable — when your supplier’s spec sheet lists a different density, coverage rate or price, enter that number instead.
