Formula & constants
Rule-of-thumb sizing: 1 ton (12,000 BTU) per 500–700 sq ft depending on climate and construction. A 2,000 sq ft home lands at 3–4 tons — final sizing requires a Manual J calculation. Every default in the fields above is editable — when your supplier’s spec sheet lists a different density, coverage rate or price, enter that number instead.
