Why must I use net weight from the ticket?

Because gross weight includes the truck itself. Using gross rather than net distorts the calculation by 15 to 20 tons per load and makes the result meaningless.

What variance is acceptable?

Within a few percent is normal field variation. Beyond about 7% in either direction, check the screed setting and paver speed before the next load rather than letting the error compound across the job.

What does low yield per ton mean?
