SUperior PERforming Asphalt PAVEments — the national mix design system that replaced the Marshall method in the 1990s. Its PG binder grading (e.g. PG 64-22) matches asphalt chemistry to local temperature extremes, so mixes resist both summer rutting and winter cracking.
